I heard DeVotchKa for the first time on Sunday, when they played at the KEXP BBQ, and I think they're incredible. It's kind of gypsy-ish, and they've got a theremin, sousaphone, and accordian in their band!
Their latest album is mostly covers, including this awesome version of Frank Sinatra's "Somethin' Stupid"
Brooke reminded me today that in my post about cover songs, i didn't mention one of my all time favorites, "I Try", the Macy Gray song, covered by Built to Spill in June of 2000 in Seattle.
We were at this concert, it was an awesome night, and i just love this performance.
What is your favorite cover song?

I just posted about covers a few days ago... I don't have one particular favorite cover (they're kind of a guilty pleasure of mine), however, I think Johnny Cash, in his later life, sang the most convincing covers I've ever heard.
Even songs which I knew well, and liked the original versions of (from danzig, and NiN, to the beatles), were transformed by his delivery into these strong personal life stories that were hard to believe he didn't write himself.
Found this great list of covers (and discovered Hype Machine) from a post on Fred Wilson's blog.. Great stuff on here..
I really like the Ray Lamontagne cover of Gnarles Barkley's Crazy, a nice take on the most played single of the year..
