Frank Bruni had a hilarious column this week entitled Fine Diner to Riffraff: Tipsy Tales of 4-Star Benders, in which he talks about people who go out to elaborate, multi-course meals, and end up completely trashed (and trashy) by the end of the night.
“Happens all the time,” said Joseph Bastianich, one of the principal owners of the Italian restaurants Del Posto, Babbo and Felidia, among others. His voice had the bored, blasé tone of someone stating the patently obvious.
It happens even outside the confines and privacy of the restrooms?
“Oh, yeah, in the dining room, all over the table, on their dinner companions,” Mr. Bastianich said. “You’ve never seen that?”
Um, no.
“Well, you go out to restaurants a lot,” he said. “Maybe you’ll run into it before you’re done. Hopefully, you won’t get splashed.”
Hopefully.
lovely... And of course I keep seeing the new Subway commercial, where people are walking out of the restaurant drenched, and that's all i can think of..

My favorite line is when Mario tries to cheer up Peach and says "Wanna go ride go-karts? Play tennis? "
We were stuck in san jose last night, so thought we'd kill some time with dinner and a movie. Dinner ran a little late, so we showed up at 8:50 for the 8:30 showing. No big deal, we thought, we'll have missed the trailers, and maybe a couple minutes. So we went to the theater that the usher pointed us to, and the movie seemed to really jump into the action quickly.
What's going on? Who is that guy? Oh, i bet they'll do a flashback and fill us in a bit... wow, this is pretty intense... hmm, i thought he was the main character, is this a trick? ... hmm, this is really fast paced.. funny, this seems like an ending already.. i wonder how they'll make this last another hour and a half.. uhh, why are the credits rolling and the lights coming on??
oh crap, that was the 7 o'clock showing...
I've had my macbook pro lock up from time to time, but this is the first time I've seen what I suppose is the equivalent of the windows blue screen of death.. i guess this is the "black screen of death"..
